Do BAs do data mapping?

I'm interested in hearing people's views on whether a task such as data mapping(i.e. defining how data from a source data model is mapped to a target data model), in the context of Data Migration project, should be considered a requirements activity, and thus executed by a BA, or whether data mapping is part of design and should be executed by a role other than a BA (e.g. Data Architect/Analyst/DBA) -- assuming the scope of the project is just data migration.

In my organization, a lot of data mapping work is assigned to the BAs, so I'd like to survey the extent to which others have observed this.

Thanks to all for your responses! :)
