I've been co-facilitating a CBAP study group with Laura Schleicher for the past 11 weeks, and it is coming to a close in a few more. As part of the preparation for taking the CBAP, I decided that I would undergo what basically amounted to a CBAP immersion. I read the BABOK a few times, built some courseware, took a CBAP prep course and built a bunch of flashcards online. The one thing that has really helped tie everything together is the study group.

Participation in a study group does two things for me, First, it provides a platform for discussion to understand the different ways in which people experience and understand the lessons that are being taught in the BABOK. Second, it puts context around the same teachings, which is especially important for me; I have been an analyst for a long time and have to relearn some of the things I do to align with the teachings. This is not to necessarily retrain myself, though that may not be a bad idea, but to align my thought process with the IIBA in order to pass the exam.

To these points, I am facilitating another session that last for 14 weeks and starts on October 19th. The group meets each Monday night from 630-830 pm CST USA and cost is $40.
