HELP! Why are reporting requirements so difficult. The user seems to need to see the report before they can tell me what they need. Does anyone have any comments, suggestions to make this process easier.

I recently saw a talk about use cases for reports. Rather than focus on the report itself, the idea was to take a step back and focus on the business process which the report informed. The idea was to think about how the report would be used, rather than what it would contain or how it would look. Your process is even more streamlined. This is of clear value.
