Framework for Requirements Visualization for requirements definition

Better requirements usability and visualization (addressing
real-world problems of text/graphics integration, standards, best
practices and ROI) are key to improving requirements management.

Some results in simulation-driven requirements definition and improvements to metamodels allowing text and graphics integration have been achieved. However, for the most part, large solicitations and solutions practices fall far short of the capabilities and vision of advanced visualization and simulation products.

A multi-pronged approach is needed, including:
1) Understanding of requirements analyst user experiences and needs;
2) Concentration on emerging standards, including ad-hoc bottom-up frameworks that avoid the standards morass, yet encourage standard notations and processes for reuse and lower cost
3) Survey and evaluation of vendor approaches and tools
4) Path-finding (e.g. well-defined business area and technology pilots).

I will volunteer to start collecting and sharing information on topics 1 & 2 above, with a special interest in the customer base of more advanced tools.
