If you give a BA a contract, chances are, they`ll want to document the current state.

If they document the current state, they`ll want to facilitate a JAD session with the users.

If they facilitate a JAD session with the users, they`ll want to map out some process flows.

If they map out some process flows, they`ll want to conduct a gap analysis.

If they conduct a gap analysis, then they`ll want to define the future state.

If they define the future state, they`ll want to gather some requirements.

If they gather some requirements, they`ll want to meet your stake holders.

If they get to meet your stake holders, they`ll want another contract.

And if you give a BA a contract….
